The International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival "Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan" is a broad, horizontal, participatory Civic Platform that has raised key topics of Human Rights and Freedoms in a changing world since 2007.

Asia 360: Life on Uranium Waste
The town of Min-Kush is located in the heart of Kyrgyzstan, in the mountains, at an altitude of two thousand meters above sea level. Here, in the small town, uranium was once extracted on an industrial scale. And until the 1960s, no one knew it existed. Min Kush wasn't even on the map.

The Coach. Playing in the Dark
Oleg Kirillov is a coach of an unusual team - the intuitive football team. It's hard to believe it, but his players are members of the Belarussian national mini-football team for the blind. Each of them ended up on the field for a different reason, but today they have a shared goal - to retain their champions’ status in the national competition.
Kirillov himself has some family members with disabilities and knows well how to communicate with his players. He is not just a coach, but also a friend to each of the athletes.
Sound design is an important element of the film. The film completely recreates the acoustic environment natural for the players. In this acoustic environment, they orientate hearing the sounds of the ball and clear instructions given by the coach.

Copper Mountains
Chelyabinsk Oblast is the Centre of Russia’s metallurgical industry, which mercilessly leaves its imprint on the environment and on human health. In some places, the situation is on the brink of ecological disaster. The town and surroundings of Karabash are one of Russia’s most devastated regions. Contaminated soil, bare trees, unusable crops, air poisoned by caustic fumes. This is not unusual in Chelyabinsk Oblast. The main culprit is the copper processing industry, generating toxic substances that cause irreversible damage to living organisms. The local inhabitants – natives and participating experts – provide a dismal testimony of the gradual degradation of their region, tellingly illustrated in long takes of the devastated landscape. Will it be possible to prevent the worst and at least stop the construction of a new enormous metal processing plant?

My Letter to the Oilmen
The Nigerian Papilou (14) lives on the edge of a heavily polluted piece of land. In the back yard of his father, through a leak in an oil pipe, thousands of liters of crude oil ended up in the river. All crops have failed. Papilou can no longer play football without the ball ending up in the crude oil. His parents split up because the family got sick from crude oil. Now he lives in the big city and the parents of Papilou are divorced. Papilou wants the oil pollution to be cleaned up and the oil pollution to stop. He writes a letter to Shell, the oil company responsible for the pollution. But do they listen to him and will they help him?

Mrs. F
In Makoko, the largest slum on water in Nigeria, Mrs F. wants to unite women and perform the play called "Hear Word"; a women empowerment project about gender inequality based on true stories to get women out of their oppressed position, to convince them to speak up and encourage them to connect. But even before she can start, she must overcome the unruly gatekeepers of patriarchy and religion.

It’s Up to Us
WLP’s documentary, It’s Up to Us, explores the interconnected threats to human security, including conflict, climate change, pandemics, economic inequality, discriminatory family laws, and gender inequality. Featured speakers share their insights into how women, in particular, have been impacted by cross-cutting injustices, and how women’s leadership may help solve the world’s most pressing issues.

Dream
Some people see difficulty in every opportunity; and some see opportunity in every obstacle. The film tells a story of a person born with a disability, who has a dream.

Huntsman (Korukchu)
A shepherd in a remote mountain area breeds wildebeests and leopards. Low wages, difficult housing conditions and the remoteness of one district from another do not prevent him from doing what he does. He is the guardian of nature.

The Mine
The film tells us about the hard work of the employees of the First, Separately Mobilized Rescue Platoon of the town of Sulyukta. Many emergencies, such as fire in a mine, electric shock, sudden gas release and blockage, pose a great danger to the life of miners. A miner who is left under the rubble or in a smoky mine, who is not able to get out of the mine on his own, can only hope for the help of rescuers.

Box
A simple worker of the plant – Man - loses his home as a result of his dismissal. He lives in a box on a waste ground, where he finds a dead body. The police arrest the Man and charge him with murder. He pleads not guilty, but the court is doing everything to prove the opposite. Even the Dead Body itself intervenes to protect the accused, but officials, policemen and the press force him to plead guilty.

Heart on a Concrete
The main character of the film is a homeless man. He used to be a sportsman and businessman. However, everything changed in a moment. Valera became homeless. He has been living on the heating main for over 8 months. He eats the food that he is provided with by people who care. There is still hope that he will get out of this situation. There are also other homeless people in the film. The things they say will make any successful person think. These are people who have a hard life, and they do not always choose how to live. They keep a lot inside insults, and sadness, and aggression.

They Also Had Dreams. Stories of Dagestani Women
Traditionally, women in Dagestan do the most difficult housework. From the age of 12 until they get old, women mow grass, carry bales of hay and water from the river on their backs, they work in salterns. Men traditionally do not do those kinds of work.
Even seriously ill women do not stop working and doing household chores.
The documentary is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Aishat Magomedova, founder of the “Charitable Hospital for Women” in Makhachkala and a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Kumtor
A new documentary, explores the exploitation and cover-ups surrounding a Canadian gold mining company in Kyrgyzstan. The documentary film released in 2020, tells the story of the Kumtor gold mine in Kyrgyzstan, which is owned and operated by the Canadian mining company Centerra Gold.

Versailles 1919 Return of the Dangerous Women
Documentary about the international group of anti - war women who protested the terms of the Versailles Treaty in 1919. Researched and reenacted with activists from the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.
